How to use QTV

Once up and running, QTV http page can be reached from the configured address and port. For example: http://quakeworld.fi:28000

1. The easy way of using QTV

  • The front page looks like this:

qtv http page

  • If there are any games going on, the players and the map will be shown in the list.
  • You can start watching QTV stream by clicking watch now! button.
    • Remember that you have to register the .qtv file type in your browser for ezquake-gl.exe or at least open it with ezquake-gl.exe

2. Using QTV via client commands

  • All of the commands can be found from EzQuake_related_items
  • If you know the QTV address, you can list the streams available using qtvlist command:

qtvlist command

  • To start observing the stream you want, you have to select the stream ID from that server by using the following command:
    qtvplay x@qw-dev.net:28000

  • Where x is the stream ID.

3. Watching demos

  • Any demo found in the server can be downloaded or streamed via QTV as long as the configuration is correct.
  • Go to the demos section from the QTV front page:

qtv demos page

  • You can choose to stream or download any demo. If you decide to stream a demo, it will be added temporarily to the QTV page live section and other people can join to watch the demo with you.
  • You can stream the demos using client command qtvplay but it's slightly more complicated than via http page:
    qtvplay file:full_demo_name.mvd@quakeworld.fi:28000
